The 2008 Version

Episode 1 - Attack of Louis

The series kicks off in probably the corniest way it could: by having the characters directly say “Hi! I’m (so-and-so)!” to the audience. This introduction scene was also the only time the parents ever showed up in the series proper, and they don’t even say anything.

After the introduction, Louis starts things off by singing and dancing, but is quickly interrupted by Bob who wants to do something more substantial. Louis, being a very likeable character, responds by kicking Bob in the face, then proceeding to go on a violent rampage through the neighborhood, kicking the shit out of some random neighbor. This rampage would have gone on for several more minutes had I bothered animating the rest of it, but it ended up getting released unfinished.

Episode 2 - Tricky Treat

This is one of the shittiest cartoons I’ve ever made. Like, bottom 3 material.

As the title probably gives away, this was the Halloween special. Now you’d think I would have taken the opportunity to dress the Ederson siblings up in fun costumes for the occasion, but you see, October also happened to be Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I decided to “help the cause” by recoloring the characters pink. Not even Breast Cancer Awareness pink either, just some weird flesh tone. In hindsight I don’t know why I decided to do this.

Anyway, our enpinkened heroes go trick-or-treating at the two other houses that I bothered spending the five extra minutes to draw. At one of the houses, Bob makes a long-winded request for specific candy, at which Louis shrieks, “This isn’t a [BLEEP] restaurant!”. I don’t remember or care what happened at the other house.

Now here’s where things go straight to hell: back at home, Louis shouts, “Yay! Let’s see what we got!”, and we fade to black, before some text comes up saying “Use your imagination to see what they got!”.

Fuck. Off.

The laziness here is fucking outstanding. Instead of taking one, maybe two extra days to animate the real ending - in which Louis gets a screwdriver in his candy bag and beats Bob over the head with it - I decided, “Nah, I can’t be fucked. Gotta rush this thing out the door NOW NOW NOW”, and put in the worst ending in any cartoon, ever.

Episode 3 - Snowball Fight

The laziness continues in our third and final episode, which is another holiday special. Kind of a bad idea to start your series in September if you intend on releasing specials for every holiday.

In this episode, Louis realizes that he may have been a terrible brother to Zack and especially Bob. So he decides the best course of action is to take his entire year’s savings, and rush out to find them the perfect Christmas gifts. But his busy schedule has prevented him from doing so until just before Christmas Eve, so he has to hurry before all the stores either sell out or close up for the -

Just kidding.

This episode is just a lame-ass snowball fight, with some ham-fisted slapstick that’s completely kneecapped by the horrendous animation. There wasn’t even any dialogue until the very end, which turned out to be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it does spare the viewer from Louis’s obnoxious screeching, but because I didn’t have a script, storyboard, or any other planning ahead of time, I ran out of shit to do with this episode and it ended up being less than a minute long without the theme song and credits.
